Can I take my Laptop battery out...

I'm confused about the use of laptop batteries VS using a laptop with it plugged in. In the past I went through 2 batteries and couldn't recharge them. Should I only use the laptop battery when I'm away from home, or just use my laptop plugged in without the battery? (If that makes sense)

Over what period of time? Batteries all eventually get old and can't be charged.

@samueltyler2 Oh yes, It's been years since the battery has been dead, I just don't want to make the same mistake with my new laptop

@BeautifulLibra there is a lot of discussion over how often to charge a battery, and to what level. In reality though, at the rate of change in computer power, nrtc., usually, the computer itself Bec Mrs obsolete before the battery becomes unusable.
