mobile phones - worst invention ever

My phone is always on silent. I don't socialize on social media as much as I used to and I must say I'm proud of myself. I read more nowadays.

Turn on do not disturb mode if it's that serious

It’s a different world. At least in America. The expectation is to be available for work calls, emails, texts all the time. I used to resent it, because I have colleagues in Europe where this is verboten. One doesn’t have to respond to anything off the clock. But I’ve come to embrace it. I give all my students and clients my cell number in addition to email. Fast response gives me more slack in the end. I have to drive in less, small problems stay small. And when the phone goes off, it’s dead off.

And if you don’t respond quick enough you get bugged to death.

When my son is with me I put that shit away.

Put it in do not disturb mode and just check it now and then

Why have one? A landline with voice message recording is optimal for comfort.

Turn it off - problem solved
