What's going on is probably a combination of:
1. Crappy battery.
2. Not setting your system up to charge only up to about 65%-70%, which is the ideal charge for some of these batteries, otherwise they will overcharge and die quicker.

@Northwest Oh well. If worse comes to worse, I'll just take the battery out and run the computer off of AC power like a desktop. I've done that with every laptop I've had, so far.
IF you have been running it off the mains all the time, that may have fried the battery

@SubstantialKick Batteries not so well made, so you have to buy more?

@johnbgood Well for my old one, I just removed the battery and ran the machine off of AC power like a desktop. Same with the old one I had before that.
@SubstantialKick Standard procedure in a laptop with a dodgy battery

I was at a garden photographing flowers. I had my phone in power save mode. It said I had about 10% left. I wanted to take a few more photos. Then it just suddenly died and was at 0%.

Mine has done that since I let it go to 0% once .....
And now it's corrected it self, but I still hate that it's never given any warning signs when the battery gets low.... that sucks about it.

You could google that problem ,at least get the warning back, the battery might be still under warranty

[c=BF0080]Check your warranty.. Do you over charge it?[/c]
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@MellyMel22 It's possible. I was just telling another commenter though, that I have the exact same make and model as my previous laptop, and the battery started going when it was 4 years old. Very weird.
MellyMel22 · F
@SubstantialKick [c=BF0080]They’re prob making them differently now(the battery or charger). [/c]
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@MellyMel22 Or maybe that's just the inconsistent quality of HP, lol 😆.

You may need to recalibrate the charging circuits and software

Battery no good. Can't hold a charge.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@REMsleep As I told a couple of others, the battery on my previous laptop which happened to be the make and model, lasted until the computer was 4 years old. So it really doesn't make any sense.
