No wild animals should ever be locked up in a zoo!!! Its as simple as that. So do you like wildlife ?

JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Every zoo I've visited was totally inadequate for the animals. I hate zoos. The zoo in Beijing was deplorable.
TJNewton · M
@JimboSaturn Yep me too mate wildlife should remain as wildlife

I agree. I visited a really small zoo in Pinjarra, Western Australia, Redz Zoo, and was appalled by the conditions the animal were living in.
Twenty Kangaroos in a rather small enclosure. There was no way the kangaroos could get any sort of speed up.
Large Black Cockatoos in smallish cages.
I spoke to one of the workers voicing my concern and, she agreed with me. To her the conditions were unsuitable, but it was a job for her.

The thing is tho, those that are in captivity cannot just be released into the wild, so zoos will be needed for the forseeable future. Sadly, there are many bad zoos. Many big zoos now have less varied collections of animals and specializing in certain creatures to give them bigger, better habitats. This has to be the way to go. And, the paying public are a necessity in order to pay for care and upkeep.

Zoos are better than extinction, I guess, but I think the answer is the "safari park" concept where the animals roam around inside the park and the human beings are closed in cars or trams.

If the animals can’t survive in the wild it’s ok for a temporary home. Live to see animals, but only if they are content.

@meJess 👍

WRONG, Liverpool supporters should always be caged
smiler2012 · 56-60
@nedkelly 😆well a lot are ned in walton jail lol
For the most part I agree. The problem is wildlife is disappearing at alarming rate in the wild. There are something like 44,000 species under threat of extinction on the IUCN Red List.
Zoos are going to have to play a role in saving endangered species.
It makes me sad to see the look on their faces, trapped in a cage for their entire lives.
It’s heartbreaking honestly.

I love the Zoo, but I think as long as the animals are given more than enough space to live and feel wild and are well taken care of, then it's ok.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
It will be the only way to see and preserve animals. The San Diego Zoo is pretty good, but if they aren’t at that level, I agree.
TJNewton · M
@Bumbles Well i'm british so idk about san diego zoo

[@tjmewton] though i have visited zoo in the united kingdom i do sort of agree they do not look right being crammed into a natural small space 🤔makes you wonder how this makes them feel psychological state of mind is or they just simply adapt
TJNewton · M
@smiler2012 Exactly
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@smiler2012 Do you mean Anfield the Zoo
... what if they came from another zoo?
TJNewton · M
