@Mamapolo2016 Me, too. If she doesn't write a book I am going to be pissed...🤣. I bought the book about Koko, the gorilla that could sign in American sign language.

@4meAndyou There was research being done on chimps here at the university teaching them sign language. The primate compound was at a residence in a rural area east of the city. They closed it down after a lawsuit where a visitor asked if they bite and the director said “no they don’t bite” and one of them bit the end off the visitor’s finger. Those little things that have to be learned the hard way. Don’t ever challenge a chimp that way, pretty sure he understood.

@cherokeepatti I still think about Koko, quite often. As a gorilla, she was a lot larger and more tame than the chimpanzee would ever be. I still remember that Koko bonded with a kitten, as though it was her child, and then the kitten was killed, and Koko grieved it's loss so deeply that she would never accept another kitten.

@4meAndyou oh she grieved at first but after several months the lady who cared for her brought her 3 kittens and told her she could choose and she wanted all of them so she let her keep all 3....I saw photos of that. Did you ever watch the video of the time that Robin Williams came to visit her? She was quite enamored of him and wanted him to stay with her. I think he wanted him instead of visits with a male gorilla. It was kind of weird there for a minute or too.
