What in your opinion is the best dog to own?

And why?

Im going to be adopting a puppy soon and will like suggestions. I do alot of rescue work and have seene every breed but i am really not sure what to get.

I work from home alone and will like a family dog but also someome who will kick anyones butt if they mess with me. HELP

Golden retrievers and labs are wonderful loyal sweet dogs. Just be sure to train them. I personally own a standard poodle. Large dog, super easy to train. Content to sit at home with you. Non shedding (you will have to groom them but I shave my dog down every 6 weeks). Super loyal! But ya know what? Mutts are great too! Just comes down to training training training!

Like I said, I’m a poodle person so that’s my vote! I’ve owned poodles Danes malamutes and poodles win hands down... and they are hunting dogs if you so choose!

@DarkLadyNight Honestly the only dogs I like are working dogs so Malamute would win my pick in that roundup since they're sled dogs. Pet dogs annoy the shit out of me.

Lol! Poodles are hunters but I kinda live in the city so I don’t have acres for a working dog to run on. It’s nice to come home to a dog and he’s got a big bark so I have the added safety there.

@DarkLadyNight Yeah see that's the deal, coming home to an excitable animal that wants to jump on me and wants constant attention and wants me to play with it all the time...not at all my kind of thing. Which is why most of my pets have been reptiles. Pretty looking, enjoyable to play with for a little while, but they're equally content to just hang out on their own and soak up some warmth from sunshine or a heat lamp. Also, scales means no shedding of fur.

Although the one mammal I loooooove to keep as a pet are pigs. I have a red Tamworth right now named Napoleon.
