I want to ask...Does anyone remember Lassie

The first I recall was "Jeff's Collie" Of which Jeff's Dad had to move to the city for a better job (character Write off)Leaving, Jeff gave Lassie to Timmy. The film scene kept the same set for the new family. Remember there wasn't a refrigerator. It was an'Ice Box'
No refrigeration, merely a large block of Ice that kept the food cold, preventing spoilage
Why can't we have decent shows for our children today?
Lassie will ever be my favorite T.V. show. I would love to find D.V.D.'s Of these wonderful shows return.

Tell me what old fashion family films YOU would enjoy returned.

To this day, when a dog comes up to me and barks, the first thing I say is, "What's wrong boy? Is are you trying to tell me something? Is Timmy in the well?" .lol Sadly, more and more, people don't know what the heck I'm talking about.

I used to love T.V. Today, everything is so dark and twisted, and anything innocent and fun, is considered somehow less than legit, you know?

Do remember watching Flipper? Gentle Ben? Even The Smurfs for crying out loud.

I remember "Lassie." I once mentioned the show to a younger guy, who had evidently seen some of the reruns, and he told me: "I"ll bet you were Timmy." Whether he meant it that way or not, that was really a compliment, wasn't it? It has been on some of the cable networks that feature old TV shows. I also liked "Captain Kangaroo" way back when.
I was born in 1955, will be 63 later this month.

I watched reruns of Timmy and Lassie when I was a kid. June Lockhart was the Mom.

@SW-User The good Ole Days. Now we have to live them.

@SW-User You loved that show too? I do wish I might get LASSIE back again. I didn't care for "Get Smart". 'Max' was a Dufuss!

Lassie, The Mickey Mouse Club, Gunsmoke, Whirleybirds, the original Batman and robin, Jet Jackson, The jetsons, The flintstones. I could go on.
Carla1951 · 70-79, F
@jackson55 I merely miss the shows I watched growing up. Mom had to watch Ed Sulivan. And the first showing of the Beatles...I lied and told my Mom I had to watch it for a school project. I wasn't aloud to stay up past 8:30 School nights.

However another TV show I was devoted to prior to Kindergarten was Captain Kangaroo.
For some reason I didn't like 'Skipper Chuck'...Maybe that was only in Florida. Mr. Moose and Grandfather Clock... Then the rabbit that would always steal the Carrots from Captains' pockets.
Yes I'm older than them thar fields. But I remember. Do you?

Lassie came on every day when I was a kid. I loved the show. I wanted to be Timmy. I wish they'de bring back "Get Smart". I had a crush on "agent 99". "Oh, Max!"
Carla1951 · 70-79, F
I hated 'Get Smart'

I remember the Lassie show but didn't know about that beginning.

@Carla1951 I hear you about the shows for kids. I'm far from being a prude but even I get sick of all the wanton sex in everything and even more sick of the stupid crap that passes for humour these days. Give me some good, old fashioned comedy and shows that teach kid's some values.
Carla1951 · 70-79, F
@katielass I am with you on this. As Children we watched the Kids helping in the Kitchen. Clearing the table without being told.
Always saying Please and Thank-you. And not even telling Mom how wonderful the meal was. But time passes and we move on, and life forgets the better days when a family was always there and helping others.
katielass · F
@Carla1951 Well, you didn't realize you were being taught things when you were a kid but if you watch the re runs now as an adult, you can see how they did teach kids our values, like not stealing, not bullying, etc. These days those values are more important than ever because, unfortunately, most parents aren't parenting and teaching their kids anything except how to act like an obnoxious brat that no one likes.

I seem to recall the adult Shirley Temple had a show of her own she produced. Continuing to give the children ground to allow the Imagination to flow FREE!

I was influenced in my future career by 1) Mr Imagination 2) Medic 3) John Gnagy Draws

I also enjoyed films that had Shirley Temple as a child. She was simply too CUTE!
