My cat is almost 19 now and near the end of her life, hopefully not soon.. so how should I deal with her death?

I have observed responses from putting her in a garbage bag for pick up, cremation, Bury a pet in the back yard, throw in a ditch and taxidermy. So what is the Proper thing to do?

How she spent her life is of much more importance than her death.

Deal with it the best way for you.

She's lived so long she's lucky she didn't have to deal with yours.

@Lizabee She has probably thought I should die when I miss a day with her cat box :O

Look at all the good moments you had with her. My cat died at age 14 has been 4 years now. Miss her everyday known here most of my life before she died. But I think of the good times with her and move on with my day. I know I will see her again one day and she will be waiting their purring for me when I die.

@BLM96969696 Until then I have to deal with her walking on my head to wake me up when her food bowl is empty.. Sigh

@MikefromEP That's what their good at. Just pray when she does pass that she does it in no pain. I was away in boarding school when mine died back home. I was told she did not move and did not eat or drink over 3 days before she passed. I know she had to been in pain, she had a few health issues which led up to her dieing young diabetes and other things. Just pray she passes with no issue. And on her own terms.

Whatever works for you. I chose cremation.

wow 19!

you have any pix?

... all i have to say is how do you feel? how are they feeling.

suffering is a mutherfucker.

the shortened alternative is my game... then again i figured Kevorkian shoulda been president. i can't stand to see suffering, it can last too long and the pain is a hot hell cock sucker sauna of nightmares of the core.

Honor her life. I'm glad you care enough about her to ask this question. Maybe have her cremated, and keep her ashes.
I am not a sentimental person.
But if she is special to you, I would opt for cremation or if you have someplace you can bury her, that.

I have a cat nearing this time of its life and have wondered the same thing. Cremation will be what I do for him. ... And admittedly, hes a demanding asshole that i adore. I kind of wish he would die so I can miss him already.

If your cat is still in good shape, please keep it alive.
If he she is suffering,take the cat to the vet so they can take care on your behalf. they will give a sedative and then another drug to stop the heart. After that you can decide to bury in garden or cremate.

@StargazingMan Hard moment to choose for family if and when that moment ever came
StargazingMan · 46-50, M
@MikefromEP it gets easier.
I had to bury three dogs and put some cats to sleep. Vet took care of their bodies.

I cremated mine.

She's given you 19 years of enjoyment, love and companionship.The least you can do is put her gently in a box and bury her in the back yard.But as you know the choice is up to you. JMHO.

I put my cat when she died in a hydrogen peroxide filled jar. And she should stay their till I die.
SW-User
i was wondering this myself. do vets take animal corpses?
MikefromEP · 51-55, M
@SW-User I couldn't do that :(
SW-User
@MikefromEP personally, i'd probably bury it in the backyard or cremate it

You'll probably give me a bad time about this, but my cat had cancer, and after trying unsuccessfully to have it treated for several months, I had her put down. They took care of the rest. Mine was 16.😞
MikefromEP · 51-55, M
@bijouxbroussard Sorry for the loss :( I would never allow a pet to stay in pain. Now if humans could do the same for humans...
