My cat is almost 19 now and near the end of her life, hopefully not soon.. so how should I deal with her death?

I have observed responses from putting her in a garbage bag for pick up, cremation, Bury a pet in the back yard, throw in a ditch and taxidermy. So what is the Proper thing to do?

If your cat is still in good shape, please keep it alive.
If he she is suffering,take the cat to the vet so they can take care on your behalf. they will give a sedative and then another drug to stop the heart. After that you can decide to bury in garden or cremate.

@StargazingMan Hard moment to choose for family if and when that moment ever came

@MikefromEP it gets easier.
I had to bury three dogs and put some cats to sleep. Vet took care of their bodies.
