Dogs are pretty smart and know who is good and not
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@smileylovesgaming Dogs have different personalities and preferences just like people have. They are not infallible detectors of bad personality traits or evil intentions. Dogs first and foremost smell people's fear and unease. Just because someone is afraid or stressed it doesn't mean they are a bad person.
@CrazyMusicLover Well said.

I have an acquaintance who’s afraid of dogs—has been all her life—and they can smell it on her. They don’t go after her, but they avoid her.
When I got my Chihuahua (I was 15) he seemed very ill at ease around her, barked and growled in a way he rarely did around others. He wouldn’t calm down until my brother took him into another room. Our friend’s anxiety didn’t seem to abate until she got ready to leave.

In my experience, dogs are much better @$$hole detectors than people. In my time in our home, we have had 2 dogs, every different types. Both disliked my next door neighbour. But got on with everyone else we know, including his wife and daughters..And they werent wrong about him..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman That’s not consistent with my experiences of him. And all other animals are fine with him.

He was a dog in his previous life and hurt other dogs.

A note on man and dogs. If your wife leaves you may not be a bad person. If your kids leave you might be questionable person. But if your dog leaves there is defiantly something wrong with you.

Dogs respond to pheromones and body language. If he looks and smells afraid or aggressive around dogs, they’ll react negatively to him too.

They have sense of fear and trust. It's all on him.

That's weird, tbh. Maybe he smells of blood to them or always carries some electronic device that gives off infrasound. Doesn't he use a hearing aid?
@CrazyMusicLover No he doesn’t. It is strange. Cats, goats, birds, horses are fine with him.

He could be afraid of, or nervous around them and they sense that fear.

In my personal experience, it was found the dog was always right. People can be real good at hiding their true character.
I have such faith in my animals, that if my dog doesn't like you, I can't be around you. No exceptions. My dog is family, I can always get another friend or acquaintance.

@dragonfly46 That seems very illogical, but your choices are your own.

Dogs don’t sense character. They react to body language, tone, scent, and subtle stress cues, and their responses are usually based on unfamiliar or noticeable behaviour rather than the person themselves.
