I have an acquaintance who’s afraid of dogs—has been all her life—and they can smell it on her. They don’t go after her, but they avoid her.
When I got my Chihuahua (I was 15) he seemed very ill at ease around her, barked and growled in a way he rarely did around others. He wouldn’t calm down until my brother took him into another room. Our friend’s anxiety didn’t seem to abate until she got ready to leave.

In my experience, dogs are much better @$$hole detectors than people. In my time in our home, we have had 2 dogs, every different types. Both disliked my next door neighbour. But got on with everyone else we know, including his wife and daughters..And they werent wrong about him..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman That’s not consistent with my experiences of him. And all other animals are fine with him.

They have sense of fear and trust. It's all on him.

That's weird, tbh. Maybe he smells of blood to them or always carries some electronic device that gives off infrasound. Doesn't he use a hearing aid?
@CrazyMusicLover No he doesn’t. It is strange. Cats, goats, birds, horses are fine with him.
