I Think Dogs Are Awesome

I have a dog. She is almost 15. She's a mix of lab Dalmatian boxer . A mess of blonde freckles. Tomorrow I will say goodbye to her. It's breaking my heart. But at the same time how lucky was I to have this gorgeous pup for 15 years?!?! I will honor her life by letting her go with dignity and grace. And by burying her in her back yard that she claimed from day 1. I will accept your well wishes and thoughts as o need something to help me through this.

I'm so sorry you're about to experience this loss. I have been at that place so many times myself and it never gets any easier.

Our last pup had to be put down at only 4 years old...our beautiful Baxter, which is shown in my profile picture. He had cancer.

My son said something to me that helped ease the pain, though, and I hope it will for you as well. He said: We give a dog a good home and a great life for as long as we can. ...and then we do it for another.

It's something I guess none of us wants to think about when we first get a pet...we will more than likely outlive him or her.

But again, sorry for this most difficult time in your life.
