I Think Dogs Are Awesome

I am so, so sorry. I know how hard that is. When I lost my 15 year old dog this summer, I realized that my 16 year old daughter couldn't even remember the dog not being there. Many people don't understand that you are saying goodbye to a beloved family member. ((Hugs))

I'm so sorry you're about to experience this loss. I have been at that place so many times myself and it never gets any easier.

Our last pup had to be put down at only 4 years old...our beautiful Baxter, which is shown in my profile picture. He had cancer.

My son said something to me that helped ease the pain, though, and I hope it will for you as well. He said: We give a dog a good home and a great life for as long as we can. ...and then we do it for another.

It's something I guess none of us wants to think about when we first get a pet...we will more than likely outlive him or her.

But again, sorry for this most difficult time in your life.

I guess most of us have to do that at some stage, but it breaks your bloody heart though, and you have to stop looking for them each morning.
