Story first. I had a substitute cleaning lady yesterday. My usual cleaning lady called in sick, and I had been sick the week before, so I really needed to have my apartment cleaned.
The substitute told me she had to go outside while doing my laundry because she was forced to bring her dogs and had left them in the car. It was a cool day, about 67F, and she left the windows down.
One of her two dogs had a urinary tract infection, and could not be left at her home alone, so during the 3 1/2 hours she was here, she ran out to her car three or four times, and made sure the dogs were walked and had water.
I told her to bring the dogs up to my apartment, told her I didn't mind, but she was worried that the dog with the urinary tract infection might...um...mark my territory.
She did an excellent job cleaning...and then there was a knock on my door. One of my neighbors knocked and told her that the police had been called and they were down at her car.
She ran out.
When she came back she had one of her dogs with her. She said, thankfully, one of my other neighbors was in the parking lot and vouched for her walking the dogs and watering them regularly, otherwise she might have received a ticket. She finished up, shorted me a half hour of my 4 hour block, and left to take her dogs home.
I went downstairs after she left, to pick up some packages, and saw the man who had knocked on my door. I asked him if he knew which of my neighbors had turned in my substitute cleaning lady to the police.
He knew. It was my USUAL cleaning ladie's second client!!! A dog owner. Too bad she couldn't be bothered to ask a question or two before she called the police.
