Just push him away before he gets close enough to bite. He'll get the message. He's just playing. He'll figure it out. My cat used to bite me when we were playing but it didn't even leave a red mark. She knew exactly what she was doing. He'll learn.

The 2 I had different times did it constantly. I hated using the bathroom when I was pregnant all night b/c she used to jump my ankles and bite me as soon as I opened the door.
Nanori · F
@MellyMel22 how could you tolerate that?!
MellyMel22 · F
@Nanori It was annoying and scary 😂 pitch dark and getting attacked 😩

Mine was a nightmare drawing blood a good few times.
I’ve been told not to play with them with your hands and instead use a toy.
If they bite your ankles always walk away if you can, ours would hang on for dear life so we had to scruff him a few times.

@Nanori he’s calmed down a lot and doesn’t bite my ankles anymore but he is agro sometimes.
The worst thing I did was fight him with my hands when he was tiny as his claws didn’t hurt back then but, as he got bigger he started to carve my hands up and it was really hard to stop him without hurting him or launching across the living room.

Yes. Kittens are @$$holes. If they werent cute they would be flushed,,😷
Nanori · F
@whowasthatmaskedman 💯 agreed

Depends on the kitty. Don't teach it to play with your hands. Get a fishing pole toy or something it can chase. And redirect always. Cats are smarter than dogs.
Also hissing works. Hiss at it. I promise.

@greensnacks I hiss I growl I do everything in cats' dictionary of Murder Signs but he just looks at me like "what did you say bich?"
greensnacks · F
@Nanori he could be just a biter. Especially if he had no littermates to practice with.

pick him up by the scruff, look him in the eyes, and assert dominance.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Anon066 This can be done by placing his tail in a pencil sharpener.. (jk)😷

Aww mine only nipples. Is he teething? I think giving him something to bite on would help, so that he can shift attention to it.
Nanori · F
@TheLadyPotato he just suddenly goes crazy and by the time I get to something he can bite on I'm already bleeding
nipples? :))

Depends on how it is biting - cats use soft bites as a sign of affection

Kittens can bite a lot
Especially if they didn’t spend much time with their mothers
It will improve with time
Try to switch your arm out for a toy that they can chew on so they learn that that’s okay and your arm is not

bite back
CountScrofula · 46-50, M
Basically, you gotta stop using your hands as toys because the kitten is gonna beat the crap out of them. You your hands and arms to be boring, and instead like, just get a length of string or whatever other kind of toy and get kitten on that.
Nanori · F
@CountScrofula I've done those things T_T he still won't listen q_q he doesn't understand reason

The simple straight answer is...
But they try to make up for it with this

I ended up having to bite my Siamese cat back. I would see that look in his eyes and tell him not to do it and he’d just lay his ears back and bite me anyway. He never broke the skin but left tooth dents on my arm. One day we were taking him to the vet to get his rabies shot and he was sitting on my lap. He went to bite me and I bit his leg. Showed him my teeth and told him I could bite too. That was the last time he bit me and he was about a year old.
Nanori · F
@cherokeepatti I'll consider doing that but mine's got fur T_T
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@Nanori That was the only thing that worked with him. I didn’t even bite him hard enough for him to yowl or anything. Just enough to show him I had teeth too.
Rolexeo · 31-35, M
Out of nowhere or when petting? If the latter they could be overstimulated.
