Letting my cat out

So my kitten is 6 months old, he’s been exploring the garden for around 2 months, he’s been neutered, fleed, wormed and microchip and is upto date with vaccines. He’s recently started climbing the fences of the garden n looks ready to go off exploring! I’m just so scared he won’t come back, is there any tips people can give to stop my anxieties and to ensure he returns

No just don't do it, if you want him to enjoy the outdoors buy him a harness and watch over him while he's tied or try to walk him on it or build him an enclosure. I see no reason to suspect your anxiety is irregular and in accordance with modification so the only way you could is if you didn't care about him

I've never understood people who let their pet cats outside.

Cats climb. They always will. If there are cars and roads near where you live, or predators, you will lose your little kitten if you are not careful.
