Dogs and porcupines update

After the first incident night before last.....i took the big Husko to the vet to get the quills removed at 7am yesterday. There was no way i could wrestle a 190lb dog to get 75 plus quills out of her mouth the night before. I sent the boys into to bush to find this porcupine.....they couldn't find anything. I figured the thing must have wandered off after i tied the Bongo dog up.....

Then last night at about 3;30am i heard a ruckus and i ran outside.....Bongo came straight away...clean...no quills....then big Husko came limping to the house...she had about 20 on her nose and a few in her mouth. Surprisingly she let me catch her and tie her up...deal with it in the morning. The vet clinic sold me a sedative syringe for instances like this. I called my daughter to come help as she's good at getting quills out (has more patience than me). This time i went into the bush...and i found the porcupine and it's now in the great willow tree in the sky. By the time i got back, she had 80% of the quills out...I had to pin her to the ground near the end to get the few in her gums out as the sedative was mild, but we managed to get all of them.....

At least Bongo learned his lesson the night before.....he wanted nothing to do with the porcupine last night....and in fact he was howling like a wolf at the moon when big Husko was gone to the vet all concerned 😟
