I always get another rescue pet when mine passes. It not only helps me with the grieving process, but also I know that my former little companion would want me to help one of his animal brothers once he has left this plane of existence.

@DearAmbellina2113 Sometimes it feels like it. She appeared months after I lost her. She made me realize I can care for another.

I'm sorry you lost your dog.
I currently have my first ever dog.
We were having a moment together today and a rush of emotions came over me.
One where I panicked simply because I had a sudden realisation that I would be devastated if anything were to happen to him.
I love this dog with all my heart.
I hope your new baby will help you to grieve for your old baby.

@Juvia That is what has me hesitating. That pain had me drinking for weeks. If I get another I'm just asking for it again. I know its kind of dumb to be hung up on that.
The little cat came as a surprise. I've always been around dogs, so I didn’t think much when she appeared, yelling for food. I made so many trips to the store to find out what she liked. It was three different neighbors feeding her, but then she started sticking to me. Now I'm her pillow lol.

@SW-User Not dumb at all. Pets are kind souls so it's easy to love them a lot.
Just work hard to not have any regrets, use this as an opportunity to teach yourself better coping methods for grief. I know it's rough but it helps to make the most of things, even pain from grief.🤗

Love is eternal and can give you strength.
The soul/energy of your previous pet did not disappear, you just can't see it but it is still in the universe.
You are not separated in your hearts, you are just in different dimensions, hence can't communicate.
What I know is, your previous pet most likely wants you to be happy, regardless if he's around or not.
The best thing you can do for your baby now, is live the best life you can, as contently as you can.
It is hard but you will make it.
This cat chose you - it is charming, seems good-natured, accept it - it will help you 💗

@Busybee333 Some days she’s just heavy on my mind. I'll scroll through her old pictures and videos just to see her. I spoiled her so much...she was my princess 😊
