I am fuming mad right now at the Veterinary Hospital I now used to use!

I have gone this one Veterinary Clinic/Hospital for over 14 years with two other Rottweilers I had and other dogs.

Anyway, why I am fuming mad at them and changing veterinary services is because I adopted Tonka a 16-month-old Rottweiler and needed to update his shots and to get him heart worm medications as well as a Lime disease inoculation because Lime disease killed one of my Rottweilers in the past. I had owned this Rotty since June 1st and took him to town to public places to test his people and animal temperament. His is extremely gentle with people especially elderly disabled and children. He is good with other animals as long as they do not show him aggression, if they do well even though he is neutered he is a dominant type Rottweiler that meets animal aggression with aggression. So, I knew this before going to the vet's office. What pissed me off today is as I walk in the first set of doors towards the second set of entry doors there is a lady at the counter with two Laber Doodle type dogs and they begin to bark and growl at my dog Tonka, and he went fun on aggressive back, even though we were 20 plus feet apart. I had cracked the second door to ask the lady if she was coming in or out with her dogs so I could take Tonka in or out without a dog fight. The clerk at the desk screamed get out just get outside at me as the other dog owner said she was coming out. I thanked the other dog owner and told her I would go outside and be out of her way as the clerk kept screaming "Get Out" (Bad way to treat a customer). Then a side door pops open and a vet tech said bring him in here and coward away from Tonka like he was a vicious dog (Second thing that angered me right off the bat, Damn you are a vet tech and do not realize my dog was aggressed first and only replied). We were put in a side room and the door closed then a different vet tech came in to ask me what I was here for. I told her I made an appointment for today my name and the story of adopting Tonka and why I was there this morning. She left and came back in talking to me a about a Blue Heeler that long ago that I sent to a rescue for Heelers. I said obviously this is a Rot and not a Heeler, male not female and let's get on the same page dang it you were just in here getting my back story. Then she told me she had to take him in the back to put a muzzle on him and put him in restraints to draw his blood and tried to lead him out of the room away from me. I said no you do not, and just like all my other Rotts you bring your needle and syringe in here and I will hold him securing his head and body and you do the draw. A male doctor step into my face and said look I do not tell you how to handle your home and you won't tell my staff how to handle your dog. That is when I got pissed looked at the vet and said get your damned needle and take his blood as I hold him. He backed away shocked as I barked at him. Tonka was calm the entire Time with zero signs of aggression. The doctor told me he would do it but if he gets bit, it will be expensive. I said get your needle. I held Tonka placing my head and neck between him and the vet with my arms wrapped around Tonka and my hands loosely holding Tonka's muzzle. Tonka only flinched like I do when my blood is drawn and no incident occurred, and I looked the vet in his eyes and said how damned hard was that! He left and a female vet came in and handled the rest of the shots with me holding Tonka.

It reminded me of being a Veteran of the Army and treated like I was some vicious killing machine; look you have to seriously threaten me or present a serious risk of harm to me before I hurt you. Damn it, Just Damn it!

I am still fuming mad and changing vets.

I had other public servants do that, but never a vet. But we also use a farm vet, same one that treats the livestock also treats the pets and the vet comes to us for no added cost

@HumanEarth Oh, those damn vets around here love farm calls the extra $100 to $150 just for a farm call hurts. I bet with the fuel it would be a $200 dollar on top fee now.

When you have a large enough size herd, The trip charge is waved, So when the Vet is over by Charlie down the road we run the pets over to him, and sometimes a livestock.

They have 500 to 700 head

@HumanEarth Yeah that is a serious all-day adventure for 500 to 700 head!

hmmm well that was very uncool of them but you didn't seem to keep very cool either tho

@WillaKissing ah well i have a lil dog the size of a cat who is super aggressive i had to let go of my pit bull because of her.. but really i guess the larger dog had killer tendencies that i was ignoring because to me she was such a sweet dog.. i never heard anything about Rottweilers being aggressive before tho yours had a longer nose than i remember them having and i presume he is a mix?
WillaKissing · 61-69, M
@GoFish Nope not mixed. There are American breed Rotts and German breed Rotts. Tonka is the American breed.
