The next time I adopt pets…

I think I want a cat like this one:

and a dog like this one:

But I’ll be looking in shelters like last time, so perhaps not.

Have you ever had a Frenchie? The shelter I got Teddy from had a Frenchie girl who was just absolutely adorable, but most of her page was dedicated to making sure potential adopters knew they aren’t low-maintenance/easy dogs. They were hoping to find someone who’d had one before. Luckily she found her home pretty quick! I thought it was good they were really doing their best to avoid a situation where she’d be brought back just because she was more than cute.
@JustNik No, but my best friend had one for several years and I pet sat her occasionally. Babette’s personality was pretty mellow but then my friend did have a lot of experience with dogs. I had a Chihuahua when I was a teenager and surprisingly, they are not easy for first time dog owners. They have very strong temperaments for being so small, kind of like they’re compensating.

@bijouxbroussard Good point. Our first dog as a couple was a Pekinese. (Dont Judge) My family had history with them and he was our fur kid. Talk about wilful and stubborn..And wanted to pick a fight with anything larger than himself.. Definitely small man syndrome..😷

@bijouxbroussard Babette. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a more perfect name for a Frenchie! 😄💕 I can definitely see that strong temperament in Teddy. I don’t think dachshunds are a slouch, either, so you put that and a chihuahua in one tiny body, you get quite a deal. 😂 He’s more fierce than any big dog I ever had, even if he’s shaking like a leaf! I hope you find your perfect pal, bijoux. 😄
I adopted one.. err.. he adopted me, from a pet store. They had this room full of cats and this big Gray one came up to be my friend and we adopted him. Looked just like the one pictured. Loved that guy, he was huge, would chase dogs out of the yard, funny to watch.
@PoohSmasher Awww ! 😊

My two pure bred dogs were rescues so you never know. And one of our local shelters currently has blue kittens!

You just put it out into the universe so now you’ll find them 😄
@SwampFlower I’ve always loved British Shorthairs and French Bulldogs. 🥹

I have a few things to take care of first. But then I am going to a shelter and ask about the biggest oldest down on its luck dog they have.. We can grumble to each other about our aches and pains..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman My dog and I do that, she is 15yrs old. 7x15=105yrs old.

@Unquestioned I doubt the shelters will keep one that old. But it sounds ideal..😷

I rescued Luna from a puppy mill abusive situation.
She gave me 3 pups 2 weeks later.

Every dog I've had in the family has come from a shelter, including the one I have now.

Cat looks a little like the one I got.
@Justmeraeagain Yes ! I noticed that he looks similar. He’s a cutie pie. 😊

Both are so cute
i want a poodle or a ginger cat
@AliceinWonderland The cat who lived with me for 14 years was a ginger Maine Coon blend. I adopted her from a shelter as an adult. Best decision I ever made.
@bijouxbroussard aw that's so sweet. my 2 cats were strays.
