I grew up with two Great Pyrenees, and no idea what you are speaking of. And also I never knew why people always crossed the street ahead of us, when we took them on Sunday strolls.

It's good to have a healthy respect for that which can cause you real harm. You don't necessarily need to be afraid but you shouldn't forget that you're no match for certain animals, even domesticated ones.

Imagine if house cats were scared of us just bc we're so much bigger and stronger than them.

Them trusting us is like us trusting whales. I had this realisation a while ago, and it still blows my mind.
