About to lose a loved one...

I don't know where to begin as this is really painful to write. My furry best friend, my cat - Klaus -, will be crossing the rainbow bridge soon due to an incurable illness.

The whole illness/process has lasted for over a year and my mom and I have done everything to try to improve his health and provide him with the opportunity to live a dignified life. However, there is nothing else for us to do.

It is painful for me to think about the future without him because he is my little companion and we've been through a lot together with the passing of the years. So, that is why I am writing this. I am hurting and I am trying to find a healthy way to deal with all this pain that I am feeling and that I am sure I will continue to feel as time passes by.

I am currently attending therapy to deal with all these emotions, but I really would like to hear your some kind words, prayers or messages from some of you who have experienced the same emotions that I am feeling.

I lost my first kitty, she had Peritonitis and she was only 7 months old.
I was sad for an entire year because she was so young and my first kitten.
I didnt know that every animal had a personal look until I had mine.

I waited for 2 years and I had another siamese.
My second kitten was healthy and very intelligent and I had some comfort from it.

It is best to have a proper grieving process and know that you have had the best time with your own until you decide to have another valuable one.

@Eyeinthesky thank you for replying! My Klaus is a Siamese cat as well. You are right, one has to give it time before getting a new best friend so not to compare it with the previous one. When I feel ready I plan on getting a kitty because I feel I have a lot of love to give. Sorry for your loss!

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. I have had to have three cats put to sleep, all with incurable or inoperable illnesses. It never gets easier, and you never forget them. All were cremated so that I could keep their ashes and their memories. I have just one now, a little tabby girl. I have become her surrogate "big Brother", since her big brother Tinsel passed eighteen months ago. Please be with Klaus when he crosses the bridge; you mustn't let him do it alone.

Lost my kitty of 18 years 2/14/19 she was in so much pain. It was heartbreaking to put her down but it was the right thing to do. I had her cremated and i have her ashes. Meow.
Think of the good times. She will come back and visit in spirit form. My cat ket me know she was here 2 or 3 times.
Hugs

Lost my dog back in 2019. He was aging and his joints didn’t work so good anymore. We didn’t want him to go, but he was in pain and we weren’t doing him any favors by making him continue to live.

Sometimes the right choice is the toughest choice to make.
Please try to find the strength to be with your kitty at the end.
Its difficult but allowing him to pass in the comfort of your hands is a gift to him. Taking away his fears at the last will be your most precious act of kindness.

Get yourself another cat. It will be helpful to you, and you’ll be giving another animal a better life.
I’m a dog person myself, but as long as a can, I”ll give at least one a home.

It's always hard saying goodbye to our 4 legged friends .. But the memories are worth the pain..I wish you well and I once your friend wouldn't want you to suffer
Each life has to end to give way to a new one. Get another pet. TC of self first before getting another.
