The time my lil 12lbs dog jumped off the 4ft receptions counter at the vets and hit the floor with a sickening *smack* and then just lay there whimpering. Terrified me that he’d done some serious harm, but after a few minutes he was fine again.

Once when camping when my shihtzu alice was still alive, she and buster(her shipoo son) were hanging with us on 10' leads. A couple of shepherds were being walked and alice decided to go to the end of her lead to give mighty barks. And although the shepherds were unimpressed, buster thought his mom might be too close, grabbed her lead and pulled her back to the table were they were tied off.

I had a pet praying mantis for a while. Immediately after I captured it, I put it in a paper cup, put plastic wrap over the cup, then secured it with a rubber band before poking holes in it.
The mantis pressed one claw against the plastic wrap, testing the tensile strength, then left it alone.
I've had dogs and cats who were smarter, but that mantis knew way too much for being that tiny.
