Why has this happened...... Don't look if you don't like blood

As every night I feed all my geckos and handle all 8 but last night when I picked up Speedy she wasn't happy about something as she jump of my hand and as she hit the floor her tail came off it wasn't that high I was sat on the floor. Don't understand what she felt threatened by so badly this happened she had a good size tail too.

I've cleaned it and put some animal disinfectant on it. She will regrow it no problem it will just effect her on balance for a while

Their tails are fragile and it could be a survival thing. I had a Siamese cat growing up and she would hunt every day. She would go after mice, shrews, and lizards mostly. Sometimes she’d grab a lizard by the tail and the tail would break off and the lizard would escape. I saw her more than once with a lizard tail in her mouth.

Aww I don’t know much about caring for lizards. I’m sure it’s pretty common though, no?

Sometimes geckos just get really freaked out, just think being so little standing on a moving platform. Now as to the tail it may have just been how she landed.

Jenny said it right though, if she's got tank mates they may be stressing her and a stressed lizard will do scary things.

@Jackaloftheazuresand she's been handled a few months now she was always a jumpy one or as her name says a speedy one

@Jackaloftheazuresand I don't really move just sit near the vivarium on the floor so if they spook not big drop
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@MiraRoss That's the thing about being tiny. The human body is moving all the time but these are micro movements to us. Hold your hand in front of you and look at it now imagine you are standing on it. I can't say for sure but I bet geckos get nausea just the same as we do. It's unavoidable so don't worry

And i bet she doesn't complain either, not like a man!
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@Harriet03 she's just snuggling with her sis and chilling unless she touches it
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
Maybe she had a fight with one of the others?
MiraRoss · 31-35, F
@Jenny1234 nah they get on really well as there sisters and have plenty of room to separate if needed
My balance is all off since I lost my tail, or maybe it's the edibles and shrooms I had last night.

At one point I thought I'd grown a tail..
