My cat bolts up the stairs when it's time for bed. He knows he doesn't have to go straight to sleep. He gets to fight with my feet under the cover. As soon as my feet are under the cover, he thinks a creature is suddenly in the bed with us. He'll fight until he's worn out, then he'll climb onto my chest and fall asleep. He's a great little guy.
@ImRileyTheDog That's incredible. When my wife had cancer, the cat started sleeping near her all the time. I think he knew what was going on. I hope your mom does okay.
yup this little chunk sleeps with me most every night, but he usually waits til im dead asleep. I often wake up to discover he's brought one of his toys to bed

@BushBoy Yes. We supplied each other with warmth and affection. The old running joke was "Okay, Sapphire. Take your little brother and go to bed." (Our first yorkie.)
