Can't speak for vegans, but I can tell you about me keeping a pet, buying him meat, and me not consuming any isn't that much about the choice. It's about contributing less to the cruel meat industry. The effects it has on nature etc.
Also, my pets are rescues, they hunt themselves and I try to buy local meat for them.
So, for me it's lowering the damage.
And I guess vegans speak about the conscious choice we have as higher level of consciousness.
Because buying meat is easy, killing a live being is more complicated.
Most people would avoid it.

I knew a doctor who was vegan and fed his cat meal scraps (vegan). He would leave the cat outside while he was at work so of course the cat is going to hunt, it was a Maine coon cat, they need a lot of protein because they are huge in size. The cat ended up getting run over by a car. So messed up.

I personally think people who buy dog or cat food with vegetables in it are guilty of abuse and animal cruelty. They are carnivores by nature, that is how their system processes what they need... through animal protiens
Invocations · F
@PrivateHell Dogs aren’t as strict carnivores as cats though,
PrivateHell · M
@Invocations They are still carnivorous in nature

Title could have been worded better, yet I agree some vegans push their values far too hard.
I really don't like those that push their values on others regardless of what those values are.
Eg. the current Supreme Court nominee!

I think they're likely aware, that their "pets" have different nutritional needs than they do.
Cats, for instance, are obligate carnivores. Humans are omnivores, and have many choices that other species of animals do not, obviously. Just can't reasonably take that choice part of out it when it comes to humans, really.

Why wouldnt a Vegan gravitate toward a plant eating pet? It seems logical.😷
