Earlier this season I bought a rosemary plant at a nursery with an odd addition to its container.

The owner of the nursery was excited someone bought it and told me to let her know what it ends up being.

I’ve watched it “I think I can…I think I can” all season long, and it finally displayed typical squash blooms. Today I checked on it while I was repotting some plants and look at her 🥹

I’ve never grown squash before and my excitement watching this unfold…supreme dork levels. I wanted to give her the highest of fives, but instead I just cupped the little once question mark in my hand.

And then, as if my smile couldn’t get bigger, a visitor came.

It’s funny because they used to visit me often. Whether it was moths, butterflies, dragonflies, praying mantis, or the declared “wtf is that” critters of summer. They would always find me and hang out for a few moments to chill with me when the world moved a lot slower for me.

Each encounter felt like a whisper of sorts…to stop and take in the moment before me. Fully. And that happened this time as well.

I was hellbent on repotting all my plants today. Ignoring the heat index warning. Ignoring that I’ve been ill for days. Ignoring that I haven’t been exposed to heat or even physical demands for at least two days. I was determined to finish the task. Until that moment.

When I got up, I was slightly dizzy and a headache started to form. That pause made me slow down and pay attention to the moment of sheer stupidity I had foolishly committed myself to.

I cleaned up my work area and headed inside knowing the shower coming wouldn’t resolve the overly dramatic flushing I had in my face (a natural occurrence for me when I get heated). But knowing it was the first step to switching to a safer and smarter gear today.

One of these days I’ll learn. Might just take a ridiculous amount of little winged creatures to educate me over and over again. I’m sort of okay with that.

@PatientlyWaiting25 They used to be like this often. Now it’s just once in a blue moon in between random reels, inappropriate memes, and food porn.

@PerfectionOfTheHeart I'm good with the food porn except trying desperately to reduce the size of my fat arse so it's probably not the best idea 😂
They always land on my legs when i sit outside. Butterflies. Bees. Etc. It tickles but i love being able to watch up close
