Not my son and I reeling at the sight of an armadillo in our backyard.

It’s incredibly ridiculous to admit this, but I was in genuine awe of it. I’ve never seen one before, aside from those poor souls that were left on the side of a road after encountering a car. Was insane to see one digging through the leaves.

And I may…may have channeled Steve Irwin and said, “Crikey” when I first saw him. But went right back into classic me mode when I lost it with the flashlight and heard it running through the leaves. The PG13 left my mouth real damn quick.

I'd be the same way if I saw one in backyard, but I'd be concerned about him or her in this neighborhood. Like you, I've seen them dead way more often than I've seen a living one. :(

@Piper Luckily there’s very little traffic back here right now and plenty of room for him to explore.

They don't live here in Iowa. I have never seen one, but I think they're cool.
Livingwell · 61-69, M
I didn't know Tennessee had them. I thought more arid climates.
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
@Livingwell They have no business being up here really, but they’ve been migrating up here over the last five years or so. It’s odd.

PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
@SarahAndSamantha We couldn’t help but laugh at his tail swaying back and forth with his waddles.

Scary fact, armadillos spread leprosy.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@Thatsright That's true. Don't touch him!
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
@Nitedoc @Thatsright I checked on him after about an hour and he was in a different part of the yard. I was going to get a video of him, but one of my pampas grass plants was blocking the full view of him. I wanted to get closer to him to get the video, but remembered this comment. So I let it be.
