@MaryDreamilton it started as an insult for a type of social misfit. Dork, geek, and nerd are different but related terms that were once used for mockery. Geeks and needs sort of started self-owning the labels and really sucked out the negative connotation as a result. Dork has more and more been used as a term of endearment instead of an insult. At least, that was my feeling and so far it seems to be born out in the polling.

@ViciDraco Where I come from we don't use insulting words for certain types of people, it's like calling black people the n-word, and you know how unacceptable that is.
