@JimboSaturn The leader of Heaven's Gate was homosexual and he was known to have told at least one "male" member that his "vehicle was attracted to" their vehicle but he was rejected, which then led to the gender neutrality of the cult so that he couldn't be tempted.

@JimboSaturn Of course! Also, just some trivia knowledge, the idea of castration was not his idea but his followers. He didn't want to do that, but his followers did, so he said okay. After one member almost lost his life after the castration, he said no more. They did eventually find a medical practitioner that was willing to do it, and so those who wanted to did, but it was not required.

@JimboSaturn Heaven's Gate happened when I was in my teens. I've always had a fascination with it because everyone seemed really happy there. The whole story of Applewhite is kinda sad, and then his partner Bonnie dying, it just is kind of a sad story over all. I think they all died because Applewhite became suicidal and his followers wanted to go with him because they loved him. The whole thing is so sad. One of the few cults I actually feel very sad for all around, not just for the cult members who got conned.
