if you are 5, I don't see why she would stop you. If you are 40, and sleeping while sucking your thumb, that's not bad either. If you are 40, and during the day, all day and every time you have free hands you suck your thumb, hmm,different story, lol...

okkk.... you're a bit old, but I'm sure eventually you'll kick the habit, especially if eventually you will be looking for a job. Usually sucking thumb is about being insecure and having anxiety and the sucking thumb promotes calmness and comfort... So, if you are trying to stop but just can't, maybe replace it with another habit that is a bit more mature, such as a ring (3-in-1) that you can fidget with. I have that, and it helps me stay focused and calm.

@sammy11 Don't worry about it. It's just possible your aunt used to do it but probably best not to ask.
One of our sons used to suck his thumb and now he works in hospitals saving people's lives.
You will grow out of it.
I do it once or twice a year and it kind of feels nice.

@sammy11 I can't remember for certain but probably by 11 but I could be wrong. He's nearly 40 now.
Don't worry about it. It wouldn't really matter if you never stopped. You've been through a lot so it's a bit of comfort for you.
