Awkward encounter with a homeless person

I was walking around the shopping centre today and saw two homeless men, it was a hot day so I gave them the box of ice cream I was saving for myself and son, they were thankful but when I left I saw one of them giving me the dirtiest hateful looks ever, I was gonna give some change but it looked like he had an addiction problem and I didn't wanna risk it, they didn't even eat the ice cream and it was expensive . I feel so weird wish I just walked Away. I feel so embarrassed now.

Your heart was in the right place. So many times the homeless just want money for drugs

I am sorry that happens. Hard to believe they wouldn't want a little donated money and food.

But you did nothing wrong for sure. I'd consider the words that other posters said...on this thread.
Some are only looking for cash, but in talking to a few I've learned that they are cautious of food that is jsut handed to them because some people are terrible and do things to it first.

You did nothing wrong, your heart was in the right place. Maybe the one was just lactose intolerant? Lol

Don't feel embarrassed. You did what you were supposed to do for you. What they do with it is on them.
You should be proud of yourself.

True fact. Most hobos wants money to support their own habits either cigarettes. Alcohol or Drugs. Most gave up in life. I once fed a hobo by buying burgers for him. He got angry because he didn't expect food.
He threw them in the dumpster. I figure he's a crackhead. Just pray for them, don't give them money. That's all we can do.
