I'm Actually Quite Shy

I'm really starting to hate my shyness more than ever. It has become so bad that I do not have any friends at my new college and I feel overwhelmed and anxious if I dare think of approaching anyone else. I always avoid eye contact while walking to class and I just really hate my life right now. This is pathetic. Being 20 and afraid to communicate with others. To add insult to injury, I'M A COMMUNICATIONS MAJOR!

I'm in a similar situation. I'm studying International Relations and can't talk in public. But I'm improving. My advice is, get good peopl to hang with, that you feel comfortably with and that support you. That will make you improve little by little.

That's great advice. I'm not sure when that'll happen considering I'm too afraid to speak to anyone here.

Well, choose wisely who to talk to. For example, my friends are really outgoing people that had the same problem as me, so they help me because they know what it is to suffer. Just like in "The perks of being a wallflower".

Wow, you're very fortunate. That was a lovely movie too. That's so awesome to have friends as such. I guess I really miss my other college and friends. Starting over hurts, a lot.

Yes, but calm seas do not make good sailors. College will improve you a lot if you don't surrender, and that's the hard part, I've had very tough times this year. If you need any help, you can talk to me :)

Wow, now that has to be the best quote I've heard since moving over here. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I truly appreciate it more than words can express. Keep in touch. :)
