If the elders are rude and the adults tolerate them, then is it up to the even younger generation to stop the cycle?

I don't think I want to be on this earth to keep acting like a sheep in the cycle of shame that no one dares to admit.

I'd very much be a black sheep wandering around in quest of what is right. And sure, I doubt myself at times. But questioning things means I can open my heart and mind to change and improvement.

I am by no means perfect. Not as a child, and not as an adult (if I can really be considered one). I am older than some, but also younger than some.

And now the question I find myself asking is, "How long will we let the belief that we ought to respect the elders get in the way of correcting and putting a stop to a history of abuse and discrimination?"

Honor thy father and thy mother...because you wish to obey God. However, you can certainly distance yourself from them if they are poisonous. If necessary, make the distance quite far.

Overcome the poisonous influences by teaching your own children in the way they should go.
