What counts as a normal life? Is it boring? How often do you make new acquaintances or meet old or current ones? How old are you?

Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
Normal life can be boring but I enjoy the routine and having that boredom I need downtime to relax and recharge

I went for many years not having or not making time to meet new people because I lost a lot of trust from a few girlfriends I had had that turned out to be disastrous friendships.

But in Jan 2023 I decided that I was going to make the effort and put myself out there and meet new people. I thought even if I just meet one new person that’s good. So I started at a Facebook group that I created in 2014 for members of my community. I asked how many were interested in starting walking group. I was overwhelmed at how many women wanted to do this and since my city is pretty big, we created several different walking groups, depending on where you live, and those women who live near each other, get together and walk whenever they want. but in just from doing that I have made four new friends friends snd we get together regularly for walks or coffee.

I have a few different friend groups. One group is women that I have known since grade one and we get together for dinner. Another group is some moms that I became friends with being on parent council over the years and we go to dinner or paint nights pottery, making nights. I also have another group of friends that I have for my outdoor exercise class and we have gone on different trips together to go hiking or do stuff together I’m 55

@Jenny1234 A walking group sure sounds nice. Hope we get one here.
I just...well, most folks outside are gossipers so I tend to avoid them.

But I do hope there are better quality people out there that I'd get the chance of knowing.

If someone says "normal life". I imagine the most average type of life I've seen, which is: going to school, going to work, meeting friends from time to time, finding a partner, marrying the partner, having children, visiting each other's families, going to vacations from time to time....that kind of stuff. It doesn't need to be boring at all, depends on the mindset of the person, if they like their job, if they chose their partner well and truly wanted their life to look like it does.

The last time I made a friend was in 2019 and I already lost him. I meet my current ones once a year, once in two years..

@CrazyMusicLover I mean...yeah, I guess that counts as normal. It's like a list of things to achieve...a cycle.

But doesn't that make you feel dictated? Doesn't it make you crave for more often meet ups with people?

It used to be different when one lives in the same area as the so called friends haha.

@Casheyane I wouldn't know, I don't live like that. 😀

@CrazyMusicLover How do you live then?

A life one is reasonably content living in.

Boring, but in a good way. Comfortable, secure.

I don't really have or make opportunities to make new acquaintances or even socialize with my friends very often any more.

Everyone has it's own definition of normal life. Whether it is boring or not, it depends on the outlook of person. Now a days meeting old and making new ones are almost none.

Never meet anyone, just go to work and come home and video games or internet. Boring but I like it, I just like to be by myself and relax and do things I like.
