Did we open Pandora's box?

As much as I love the internet and sometimes social media, I often wish everyone would just stop using it cause, I feel we as humans have become more involved in the online world than the real world... Since I don't think the internet is ever going away would the internet be Pandora's box???

Probably.
I can see us heading down a very dark path (and not in a cool way), as people "live" more and more in the online world, with augmented and virtual reality seeping deeper into our lives, allowing people to just ignore actual reality.
There was something on tv recently, someone was living in a small crappy apartment but they were happy because they could go into VR where there's all this huge, beautiful open space and treating it like that was just as good as the real thing.
Too many people already don't care about what's real... for some reason, fake is good enough 馃檮I will never be able to understand that. I do understand escapism but this is just getting absurd.

@Redstar exactly I can see us all living in a fake world like they do in the matrix.

Yes we did,The internet and online forums which began almost 30 years ago, gave people a new and exciting way to connect with other socially for a wide variety of reasons. It certainly has it's pros and cons there's no doubt about it.Popularity is through the roof and people can come online on a number of devices and spend as long as they wish sitting down in chat or playing games or whatever the case may be.Technology itself is a wonderful and brilliant thing in the 21st century, however it has made many of us lazy.We don't sit around the table for dinner as a family as we once did, connecting as families having conversations and asking how your day was etc.Everything we need is at our fingertips, remote controls and smart tv smart security and so on we can shop online in fact we can do almost anything we can at home or in the car or anywhere in the world on our phones or tablets, computers it has made us lazy and lethargic and it impacts on our friendships and relationships if allowed to.
