I don't know if it's my age or not, but I don't really feel controlled in the way you described and I'm happy to learn about other countries and their perspectives.
I do not believe we're the only people on the planet and many people do travel outside of the United States.
Some of us, just like people everywhere, may not have the money to travel outside of their country.
United States is a huge country with lots of different states to explore.
Perhaps, you should come to America and see for yourself?

Travel does broaden the mind, which can be done with reading too.

@jackieash27 There were political overtones to that show. Strawmen are only representations of something more solid and get burned all too often for no real reason, industrial workers have their hearts ripped out of them all too often and its hard to get up the courage to speak up when there are so many dictators and witches with bolts of lightening and powers we are denied....
@Shadyglow Right, now I get it. Thanks. I've never seen Wizard of Oz (but you've probably guessed that already).

@jackieash27 if you can get a movie and sharing address called ok.ru you can see it there for free and no fees ever

Americans who have traveled internationally are more interested in and knowledgeable about foreign affairs, feel closer to others around the world, and favor a more active foreign policy, according to the survey of 3,576 U.S. adults conducted in spring 2023. We also surveyed people in 23 other countries about their international travel habits.
Some people on this site think it is "right" for America to police the world. Which makes me laugh. In some states, they can't police themselves.

@jackieash27 I honestly think we all have verying opinion within our groups.
But, the politicians keep pushing us into narrower and narrower margins of possibilities.

@Justmeraeagain It's tempting to blame 'the politicians' for incestuous nationalism etc; goodness knows plenty of their behavior is atrocious; but if you/we go where they're pushing, (and keep electing more of the same types) WE are the problem.
No I don't see a painless way to fix it, but pointing at the wrong people doesn't help.

@Justmeraeagain
I don't think a lot of us think that way anymore.
"A lot of us" - Do you think you are speaking for the global population, or just the USA?I've done too many posts on the international persecuted Church.... good luck in your own attempt 😅

Many older Americans are controlled by the mainstream news media while many young persons are not so much controlled but aloof but influenced some by the media but moreso by celebrities, music stars, Tiktok (which is one of China's methods to subdue the US), and other social media.

arrogantly.
The more people know about this place the more they are sorry they have any brains.
And smart Americans always look to the best examples of living ANYWHERE.
Then they get smarter.
Its a decent goal if u ask me!

Sometimes some people need to see other countries to finally realize we have more freedoms than other people do .

I’ve experienced the opposite. People who live outside the U.S. are often convinced they know everything there is to know about our country, what we believe, our travel habits and what we’re exposed to. This in spite of the fact that the country is made up of people from just about every culture, from every ethnicity, speakers of just about every language throughout the globe. Somehow the impression exists and the constant accusation made that we all think the same way.
That, imho, is an arrogant assumption. 🙄
