Is there something commonly said on SW that really gets on your nerves?

What is it?

When people say 'they'll be back on another account or back tomorrow or even spread unsubstantiated rumours that someone is hiding in another account - no bich, not everyone is playing those games. Some people genuinely leave, even if they come back months/years later.

Post a selfie! - Three fecking times a day.
Same expressions, same faces. Like they haven't moved from the last one, stuck in that position.

@SW-User LOL and these posts even get thousands of responses.

@SW-User Yet, many will preach it is what's inside that matters and beauty comes from there.

Yeah and the "I don't filter my pix" but there is not one pore or blemish on the face - air brushed.

@SW-User oh Gawd soo true
SW-User
@SW-User wait, we're meant to use filters on our selfies? I didn't get the memo.

@SW-User YES to all of what you said. It's pure insanity. How can that much validation from a majority of strangers on the internet possibly make one feel better about themselves after basically begging for it? Yikes!

You seem like a very caring individual, so do you find it a bit disheartening these posts get so much attention/responses and someone who's crying out for help goes ignored? That really hurts my heart.

@MoonlightLullaby Disheartening would be a strong word. I guess I am used to seeing people in real need overlooked unless they have a certain kind of popularity. But my heart goes to people in pain. I have to be careful though not to absorb it myself. ❤️

@SW-User Yeah, I get what you're saying. I feel on intensely deep level and have to be careful myself. I meant disheartening for the person overlooked, not that I would personally be affected in that manner. Sorry for not wording it correctly. I guess it's a catch 22 when I really take pause to think, perhaps I should feel sorry for the person seeking so much attention. There must be an underlying reason.🥀

@MoonlightLullaby Begging is exactly what they do. It's almost an illness. And someone thinking we should give them false flattery just to make them feel better is enabling it. It just creates an addiction to it and it will never fix what the underlying issue is.

@SW-User yeah and unless youre super popular on here people wont even care about your selfie.. so it kind of loses its value when all anyone cares about is the same people every time 👀
SW-User
@MartinTheFirst Exacto!
It's not that I'm totally against selfies occasionally. It's the constant repeated of it.
MoonlightLullaby · 41-45, F
@SW-User There's definitely an underlying issue when it's done consistently, but I'm not in the place to determine what. For me personally, I'd rather have a sincere compliment; one I didn't ask/beg for, and preferably about something less shallow than mere looks. I don't necessarily see it as false flattery, but my interpretation may be different than yours, as some are truly beautiful. I wish they could see their value/worth isn't based on compliments from a massive amount of strangers. I used to participate every now and then, but they just felt like empty comments. Then again, I didn't know the concept of self love, and that makes all the difference in the world, imo.
SW-User
@MoonlightLullaby Total with you there. Sincere compliments are where it's at, and exclusive to the person, not just a canned response that gets used and thrown at almost anyone.

Sound like you've been doing some growing. Kudos to you! 🥂
MoonlightLullaby · 41-45, F
@SW-User Indeed I have. It's been a year plus of growth for me, and I plan on continuing it. I've done so much dirty soul work and I'm all the more better for it. Thank you and cheers back.🥂💖

@SW-User then complain about when a creep does creepy stuff with one of the HUNDRED selfies, when it is WELL KNOWN that SW is FULL of creeps

Then complain when that gets pointed out, "why must I live in a world where I can't post 100 a selfies a day without creeps being creepy, why oh why 😭😭😭?" and start falsely equating it to offline things like actual sexual assault

You wanted attention, and you got it, congrats, here's your cookie

Social media is just a vanity/narcissism/constant validation chamber for many people
