Why do people living in certain parts of USA find being called a Hill-Billie as derogatory ?

BigAssLeech · 31-35, M
I live in the rural south. I've never known anyone who was offended by the term hillbilly or redneck. It seems as though they mostly take pride in those terms and use them to describe themselves and others

There's a lot of urban arrogance in that term I think. The more mature lady looks like she's worked a lot to keep her family afloat, and the younger woman (her daughter?) is very attractive.
@helenS yes, I think it's used a lot for being insulting

@Albatross City people are very often unpleasant know-it-all guys. In reality they can't tell a frog from a toad. I'm a country mouse myself, which is why I have a lot of time on my hands to learn and listen.
@helenS it's a good attitude you have.
Not offensive in the least!😎 I possess hillbilly ingenuity passed down for generations.👍
Most people that find it offensive are the same people that use it offensively.
@UnderLockDown not sure of that ? I was told by people from rural Missouri that they find it offensive
Because fucking your sister is hard work and deserves respect
