I Admire People Who Are Not Afraid To Be Themselves

There is something to be said about a person who will go against the grain of social norm to be themselves regardless of what others think or say. In my opinion I think people of this caliber should be admired for their ability to be who they are and stand for what they believe in.

I think they are admired. That doesn’t mean people have the courage or passion to stand with them.

I also think we all have different passions, so you may stand against one social norm and I may choose another. Since it requires energy and passion to go against the current most people are selective.

Of course you are also talking about the sad reality that the admirable person will be criticized by those two insecure to accept a different viewpoint. There is no cure for that, but please stand tall for what you believe and allow me the freedom to respectfully disagree if necessary.

I will always admire those who genuinely take the path less traveled.

@trackman11 You raise a very interesting point about being criticized for the admiration as well as the energy to go against the grain of society for those admired. Usually society will win as those that are different are judged or ridiculed but there is hope that one day people will realize it is ok to be different and not be the exact same.

@Silentpleasure maybe, but insecurity seems to be here to stay. Just know and believe that while the louder minority judge and ridicule you for being courageous the quieter majority admire and some may be inspired by your stance. I don’t know you or the things you stand against the current for but I am impressed with the way you present this.

Very true. There are not many honest people that stand up anymore. They seem to be too worried about their own feelings or falsely that of others. People used to appreciate honesty many years ago but it seems to have faded away.
