My friend at work trying to convert me into a Dune nerd

And me trying to get her into Halo lore. Meanwhile, we mutually geek out over Star Wars

You absolutely must read the Dune books first before judging any versions.

To tell the truth no movie versions of Dune can compare to the books. They had to cut out too much.

Having said all that, I must point out don't take the philosophy in the books too seriously. L. Ron Hubbard had ulterior motives for writing the whole darn series.

He was the founder of scientology. That was his reason for writing the whole series.

I'm a huge sci-fi fan in general. Probably have seen all of it if not read most of it. Even early stuff written in the 1950s.

Lost in space, My favorite Martian, even Gigantor cartoons. 馃槅

Something weird is going on this post with comments and replies.

People that haven't blocked me just are not showing up

These links I can see if open them up separately. Yet not on a regular Post link.

There are a couple of people that blocked me. Yet not these specific people.

Totally weird.

That's interesting.. I didn't realize the author of this and the founder of scientology were the same. But I guess it's to be expected a book won't always 100% translate to a screen.

As for the strange things going on in here, not sure that I've noticed

@caPnAhab I made a site report on the above problem. It's that weird.

I don't know if I'll get a response.

@caPnAhab L Ron Hubbard as well wrote another book that was considered to be made into a movie. I don't believe they did. Yet do look out for it in the future.

It would be called: "Battlefield Earth".

It's considered the "War and peace" of science fiction. Being over a thousand pages long.

Yes, I have read both! 馃槀

@DeWayfarer wait. We're still talking about the author of Dune, yeah? Are you sure it's not Frank Herbert?
DeWayfarer61-69, M
@caPnAhab you know, I must be going through Alzheimer's.

Please forgive the confusion. 馃槥

I don't know how I made that mistake.

@DeWayfarer no worries. I'm still learning about Dune so you had me second guessing myself for a bit.

But looking into Hubbard, Battlefield Earth looks sort of cool. Just from the cover alone

@caPnAhab it's extremely long. And sort of boring in my view. Only read it because it was one of the longest sci-fi books of it's time then.

I really loved to read back in the 80's. Anything sci-fi I read!
