It's super bowl Sunday, you know what that means. Can someone explain it? I don't watch sports.

Everyone gathers to watch about 45 minutes of big guys moving a ball around, but it's spread out over the whole day, broken up by over priced ads for crap you don't need and commentary on what just happened and speculation about what may happen. There is also this animosity between sides and over consumption of high calorie snack foods and beer.
