Breaking up with maturity......

DrWatson · 70-79, M
I know one couple who had an "amicable divorce", who would probably say this to each other.

But in all honesty, I don't think I would say this to anyone I broke up with, and I don't think anyone who broke up with me would say it to me.

On the other hand, there are have been two ex's of mine who became friends later on, and I have nothing but positive feelings about those friendships.

In one case, she was a drug addict during the entire time we were together, but after she went into treatment and sobered up, she became good friends with my wife and me. But she was essentially a different person, and there was little connection between "before and after." (Sadly, she has since passed away. )

In the other case, fifty years after high school graduation , a high school girlfriend found me online, and she has become good friends with my wife and me as well. We have talked nostalgically about "when we were young", but the way we relate as adults is very different, of course.

I guess. if both had a good level of maturity, the breakup never happened, or maybe the relationship didn't happened at first.

Whoa. I can't see THAT happening with any of MY exes. 🤣🤣🤣
