I'm definitely an extrovert . I've always needed and craved attention .

rfatoday · 61-69, M
That was me many moons ago. I too would enjoy small friendly groups but hated big parties and was never good at casual small talk. Alcohol became courage juice to overcome being introverted due to shyness and self-consciousness, especially at single's places. We're talking late 70's and early 80's in my case. I don't know... about 35 years ago I stopped drinking and eventually became comfortable in my own skin without alcohol or anything else. Now I can go anywhere to any group and enjoy myself, and would probably classify myself as extrovert. Back then there was no "online" as such, BTW.

I think the key is to realize you are okay and you can be comfortable in your own skin. Not everyone has to be an extrovert. Not everyone will like you or even want to talk with you, I had to learn that. An old friend told me once "If you walk into a room of 100 people, 30 will not like you no matter what you say, how you look, etc.".
Fluffybull · F
Introvert (INTJ)
Fluffybull · F
@Annie1899 🤔🙄
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@Fluffybull Being 18 is only a temporary state anyway.
@Fluffybull I've been 25+ for a while now lol
SW-User
Introvert and getting more so. Alcohol definitely helps, or used to when I went out.
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@SW-User Why would you say you're becoming more introverted?
SW-User
@Annie1899 I work from home and hardly go out of the house or talk to people, apart from my family. I've found it doesn't really bother me though.
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
I'm such an introvert, I've worked online from home for 10yrs now.
So much better than sitting at a crowded table for a meeting. Lol
ButterRobot · 51-55, M
Introvert. Like 8/10 on the scale
NewRaven · 51-55, F
Introvert for sure. I get so drained being around too many people for long. Truth be told, that might explain why I was always tired before pandemic forced working from home
CassandraSissy · 26-30, T
I'm more the introverted extrovert, I think. I'm mostly quiet and calm and then suddenly it's Diva time at Chez Cass and I just go a little.....mental ?!? *Giggles*

I'm a home body that, when she goes out, really goes to town!

😘
I like people, and I like socializing, but I hate crowds.

Essentially I'm an introvert, I guess.
thepreposterouspanda · 36-40, M
Introvert all the way. I do enjoy the company of people from time to time but need a lot of recharge time afterwards. :)
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
Same, a little liquid courage lubes the confidence and lowers my Inhibitions
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@JohnnyNoir But why is that required? Shouldn't we inately be able to do it without drugging ourselves first? I know I'm shit at flirting, dating, etc. but I'd rather know that I am and be the real me, not a fake me hiding under the veil of alcohol-fuelled randy.
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@zonavar68 not required but it happens sometimes
rissa · 22-25, F
I'm an extrovert but I do sometimes enjoy solitude
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@rissa So what's it like being an extrovert?? :)
rissa · 22-25, F
@Annie1899 I imagine it's different for everyone. I enjoy it though.
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@rissa I mean, what are your extrovert characteristics?
I've always identified myself more as an introvert. I'd say it was much more true back when I was much younger. But as you point out your own exceptions, I then to label someone as one or the other might not be the right way. It's another one of those things that's more scaled and different things or situations will change how we interact with the world around us.
jackson55 · M
Never have been big on big crowds or large parties.
RuthW69 · 56-60, F
I think loud places are boring because you can't really communicate but people are too drunk to notice or care.
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@RuthW69 You can really focus on the other person and the conversation. Tune everything out if need be.
RuthW69 · 56-60, F
@Annie1899 yes, if you go out in a threesome that changes the dynamic and then four you get two conversations going eventually.
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@RuthW69 Right, but it's the really big social gathering where you don't know where to focus and who to talk to that's hardest.
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
I'm very introverted. I hate social gatherings. Alcohol doesn't do anything for me - I'm very frightened of getting drunk and I'm extremely frightened of romantic attraction which shouldn't require alcohol to manipulate the dynamics of.
SW-User
Introvert that can pass as an extrovert when necessary
Happyheart1 · 36-40, M
Connecting online really helps
SW-User
I'm both lol. Maybe more on the extrovert side though
Jungleman · M
i am an introvert, reserved character in real life.
Boleuskas · M
As I am getting older I would say Introvert
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@Boleuskas What are the differences that you notice?
Boleuskas · M
@Annie1899 More experience now, dont open up so easily to people, dont spend time with people who dont deserve my time. I know how to spend my time without people and be happy, finnaly started to understand my self ....
chrisCA · M
It depends on the situation.
chrisCA · M
@Annie1899 I enjoy my own company, but depending on the social affair, I can be quite sociable with right people.
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@chrisCA Exactly. I can keep myself busy at home for hours. But I love being with my good friends.
chrisCA · M
@Annie1899 Cool. I don't go out of my way to speak to strangers, but but if I am at gathering say with local business people, or public figures, I can hold my own.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
It takes time but continue and it becomes easier
We need to open up more
dale74 · M
I'm definitely an introvert but I've also been placed in situations where I still have to speak in public before large crowds but it is so draining I am almost worthless the next day.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
Age helps, self confidence is important and practice makes perfect
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
Extrovert.I love being the centre of attention and owning a room when I walk in.
Teslin · M
I am more of an introvert. I love my alone time.
And yes, a little alcohol does help when in a crowd of strangers LOL
A balance of the two. Solitude is nice but I can mix with people.
Mooed78 · F
I am in the middle between both..
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@Mooed78 You're in the best of both worlds!
SW-User
@Mooed78 It's good to be balanced.
Unlearn · 41-45, M
Self awareness leads to introversion...
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@Unlearn I'm trying to figure out if I agree with you.
justlooking2023 · 56-60, M
i mostly introverted but have the desire to step out of my comfort zones.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
You can’t choose your family but you can choose your friends
BLP11520 · 61-69, M
There’s something in the middle I think it’s called ambvert??
NotAfraidofAnything · 26-30, M
Use to be an introvert but more extrovert now.
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@NotAfraidofAnything How did the change come about?
NotAfraidofAnything · 26-30, M
@Annie1899 i think becoming more confident in myself
SW-User
Are... Are you me? 😯
Annie1899 · 36-40, F

Subsumedpat · 36-40, M

SW-User

SW-User
Introvert unless online and/or drunk. Me in one sentence.
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@SW-User Yep. I'm you, Or the other way round.
SW-User
@Annie1899 Nice ☺️
romell · 51-55, M
Am not you at all
.I like too be a social animal
.what humans supposed to be
retiredbum · 56-60
More introverted unlike my wife
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
Being introverted and inherently anti-social is a lot more common than people think.

I've always been introverted and very socially phobic. I hate crowds - I hate crowds of people I don't know/trust even more.
Applepiedom · 61-69, M
Extrovert with shy tendencies
darkmere1983 · 46-50, M
an introvert, id hate to be an extrovert.
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@darkmere1983 Why is that?
DDonde · 31-35, M
FeetAreFantastic · 41-45, M
I'm about 95% introverted. Same reasons. Social interactions exhaust me, which is pretty much the definition of introvert. But alcohol doesn't help for me. I don't want to drink much.
Annie1899 · 36-40, F
@FeetAreFantastic It helps me, but I don't depend on it.
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
Introvert people are exhausting
