It's called toxic positivity.
Maybe a way to lie to themselves and keep distracted from truth. Afraid to feel authentic or painful emotions. Probably lack of coping skills, no resilience or could have been pampered or sheltered too much. Given a bandaid for every ailment versus experiencing it. Staying wrapped in a 'rainbows and sunshine bubble' they won't have to face themselves or reality of life. It's unhealthy.

@Magenta I appreciate somebody saying it. Toxic negativity is bad, but toxic positivity doesn't get nearly enough attention. People just call it looking on the bright side, but it's avoidance. My dad is guilty of it.

@LordShadowfire Indeed it is avoidance. Extremes are never good.

@Magenta I don't know whether you enjoy adult animated programs, but BoJack Horseman, in addition to providing an amazingly flawed depressive and abusive main character, has a side character named Mister Peanutbutter who is a perfect picture of toxic positivity.
