The federal minimum wage in the US, for tipped workers is $2.13 per hour.

This is insane. Do people really work for that salary?

@Hatt94 • Tipped Employee Definition: An employee who regularly receives more than $30 per month in tips.
• Tip Credit: Employers can claim a maximum tip credit of $5.12 per hour ($7.25 federal minimum wage minus $2.13 cash wage).
• Minimum Earnings Guarantee: If an employee's direct cash wage of $2.13 plus their reported tips do not equal at least the standard federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour in a given workweek, the employer must pay the difference.
• Tip Ownership: Employees must keep all tips they receive, except when participating in a valid tip-pooling arrangement with other customarily tipped workers.

The logic is sound.
Perhaps governments need to subsidize small business workers' wages.

@CuriousWonder Right. 🤭
