Why is communication so difficult?

Why is it so hard for people to sinply say what they want and need?

Why is it so hard for people to express their feelings, good, bad and all the inbetween?

Why are we so unwilling to listen when someone tells us these things?

It seems to me that a lot of issues in the world could be solved if we just had good communication skills.

Personally this is a skill I acquired as I aged. When I was younger I gave a $h*t what other people thought of me. But in the end that cost too much.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Yeah, once you stop worrying about what people think of you, it does get easier. Because if you are expressing clearly things, and they get hurt or upset, that is on them. The intentions aren't to do that. It is to open up the topic to discuss and come to agreements on.

So few people seem to realize that.

@FoxyQueen I speak as an outsider on this one and please dont be offended if I aM wrong. But I suspect this may be more difficult for women than men. There is much more body image and physical appearance that women have to throw into the pot..Again, something I dont really understand. To me it always seemed more of a competition between women than to impress and attract males..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I think women, when it comes to communication and worry about what others think stems more from not wanting to cause confrontation or hurt than unrealistoc beauty standards. Women tend to be raised as people pleasers, so the idea of making someone mad becaise we communicated honest feelings works against our raising.

@FoxyQueen Yes. I agree with that. Women do tend to form into groups and establish a pecking order to get things done, instead of competing and chest beating..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman That's not what I said. 🤔

@FoxyQueen No. But I it as a consequence of those traits you mentioned. I think the idea of "The Village" arose from woment needing to communicate, negotiate and be supportive..If it were down to men they would be solo fishing or hunting..😷
