I think I know how you feel

This is genuinely how to do it.
Although I am eternally hopeful, that's not the same as being optimistic. I try to be realistic about what I'm dealing with, what we're all dealing with, and then just figure out the best path through.
Pessimism is suffocating (and often wrong), and mindless optimism is a toxic lie to yourself and others.

@CountScrofula I've always pondered the word hope.
I can't make peace with it, though I do feel it sometimes. I genuinely hope the best for people, but a rightfully cynical part of me knows how quickly it can change and be completely out of our control.
My mom would tell me I had a little dark cloud over me all the time lol but people make many assumptions of you when you are genuine.

@MarbleMarvel I get that - I think what I try to do is be fair in my expectations. So if I know something very bad is happening, I'm not going to pretend it won't happen, or that it's okay. Rather I'll look for the little spots of light in the darkness and cling to those.
And also laugh instead of cry. Thankfully, the evils of the world are often absurd.

I'm a pessimist sometimes but I'm doing my best to work on it. 🤔

@thepreposterouspanda 💯 but in that resignation, is peace too. You still gain something when you give up.

@thepreposterouspanda pain brings a beauty. Powering through pain brings strength. Doing it alone, pain doesn't hit the same. You just broke the cycle and made the best possible outcome for yourself. Shit ain't easy but you don't underestimate yourself anymore.
