What is empathy?

Though I have found that people who think others are going to steal off them are usually thieves.
People who think everybody is lying to them are usually liars.

Makes me wonder if a person who would make such a bold and sweeping claim as you just have might have faked a few tears in your day for a meal or two...

@HikingMan This is very much me in a sense. I can read about a tsunami killing a hundred people and think it's a tragic shame. But let me see one person I don't even know tearfully recount how they watched their friend get lost in the water and the tears will come. I feel everything more deeply if I'm around other people feeling the same thing.

@ViciDraco Strangely enough - one d3ath is a tragedy but several d3aths is a statistic.
