Yes, i do
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I try very hard not to think that way especially if it was a very long time ago because it just drives me crazy and makes me very bitter.
So yes in the past I probably thought all those things but life's too short to live that way for me.
I do think about if I was wrong or not ,
,what part I played in the disagreement, and if there is something I can do to make it better.
Sometimes there isn't and frankly sometimes they probably do owe me an apology ,but since I can't force anyone to apologize to me I don't want to spend my life expecting it.

@Justmeraeagain That's probably a good thing because we definitely know some of those apologies will never happen.
JeNeSaisPas · 51-55, F
Nope. Some, however I owe a good shanking.
Birdbox1986 · 31-35, F
Society does
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@Birdbox1986 The entirity of society owes you an apology? 🤔
Birdbox1986 · 31-35, F
@LadyBronte yes, they do
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@Birdbox1986 I am included in society - that totality of people everywhere - and don't owe you any apologies for anything. 🤷🏼♀
thechik96 · 31-35, F
No one owes anyone shit opinions and actions regardless of right or wrong are based on perspective
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@thechik96 We can agree to disagree. Some things people do to others are shitty from any perspective.
@LadyBronte Exactly right
Boeing · 36-40
None owes anyone anything... But I am open to receiving apologies why not 😎
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@Boeing You and I can disagree on that. I do believe people often owe an apology. I have owed them, myself and have always tried to give them.

Recently, I found out someone apologized to me several years ago, and I never knew because I was maintaining zero contact at that time.
I'm glad I never saw that apology. It came with a price I wouldn't have been able to pay at the time.
I entertained the thought many times that I was wrong - in the company of several psychologists and therapists.
It turns out I wasn't wrong. Sometimes I wish I was the one who was wrong. It would be easier to process it all.

@Magicianzini Interesting. Perhaps finding it later did help in some small way? I'm sorry you went through that.
Magicianzini · M
@LadyBronte It might have I guess - had I been able to trust it was even real. It's like this a lot concerning her. It's all yes and no at the same time. She's a psychopath. All questions I have about her and our relationship are all yes and no because of that. Only one question I know for certain is no - and that is whether she loved me or not. She couldn't because she can't feel love for anyone. So at least I have a no on that one which has helped me a lot.
Ontheroad · M
I try to... let's call it, "live above" this sort of thing. It's not that it doesn't affect me, bother me or that I don't think about it, but I put it in its place and move on.
I recognize it and leave it there. I don't want negative in my life and this is my mechanism for filtering it out.

@Ontheroad Good outlook to live by.
Nightwings · F
I do think that if we wrong someone, we should apologize. I know some people who definitely owe me an apology but I won't get that from them as they won't even acknowledge what happened, so it's whatever. I don't think much about it if someone wrongs me, but I do think about how I impact others. In the end of the day I just want my life to be peaceful, and I want to contribute to other people's peace too. {=
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
I agree that we should. And yes,there are times they won't acknowledge ...they don't realize...they realize but it's over shadowed by too much pride...they just don't care what damage they've created.... So many reasons. No peace in any of them. All we can do, is to do our best to be better when the shoe is on the other foot. 🤷🏼♀
val70 · 56-60
Yes, I do. Three on the replies here have blocked me already. One of them probably be because I'm Church of England and support female priests. Go figure where feminism went.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@val70 I wouldn't call having a difference of opinion a reason to block, but to each their own. Can't say I a feminist, nor can I say I agree with female preists, but I don't begrudge those who have a different opion. 🤷🏼♀

@MrSmartyPants Good.
HikingMan · 56-60, M
There are a few apologies out there that I'll never get.
I've made a few apologies that were never accepted.
I'm learning to be fine with all of that.
I automatically think I'm wrong.
It's easier to explain that to myself.

@HikingMan I feel like that first paragraph could apply to nearly everyone at some point. But I hate it that you always accept blame where there is none. That is a heavy burden.
HikingMan · 56-60, M
@LadyBronte You and I have been friends for what seems like forever now. You've always been extremely kind to me, and you have no idea how thankful I am for our hundreds upon hundreds of interactions over the years.
I've come a long way and have gone through all kinds of stuff since we first met and I know that you know that I've struggled with my boundaries and my peace over those years
These days I feel much more relaxed. Perhaps not to be considered Well Regulated, but definitely more peaceful.
My assumptions of being at fault does serve a purpose and I recognize it more readily than I used to.
I can assume that I am wrong and not beat myself up for it anymore and that's huge.
I have love for you and for all we've shared over the years and I'm so very thankful that we've been friends all this time.
You're the best you that I could have ever hoped for.
Peace,
Rob

@HikingMan Years. Yes. All the way back from EP as I recall. You have always been kind to me as well and I am deeply appreciative of our friendship.
You have gone through so much and peace has been a long time in coming. I'm happy you have found that. If your point of view on acceptance has helped you with that, then it's been a good thing.
I do wish for you continued peace and much joy in the future. Please take care of yourself. Thanks for being a good friend. 🧡
You are definitely appreciated.

@LadyBronte Yeah, I’m sure there are some that won’t receive it, but in my mind it is still very important that the one that owes an apology at least make the effort and in doing so they are set free…And this is my opinion.
It might not change whatever was destroyed or “make amends”, but if sincere, it will make their heart and conscience clear. And there’s great peace to be found in that.
And please know I’m not saying anyone has to accept bad behavior from anyone else …or even place themselves in the position for that possibility. My whole point is it’s a good thing when people can own up to their bad deeds and show remorse.
In my own personal life, it would mean the world to me to receive apologies from certain people, and no, most wouldn’t change any of the circumstances but it would feel good to me to know they have a resemblance of a conscience and it would be one less thing weighing their consciences down.

@Unefilletrescurieuse I agree. We should all try to do our best to offer an apology and make ammends if we can - even if things can never be the same. I only mention that while we may be sincere, the apology may not be accepted.
@LadyBronte so true
Magenta · F
No not really. I don't think I'm owed much.
No-one is innocent or perfect. No-one gets everything right.
Of course I've entertained that. I know I've been wrong in my behavior..

Magenta · F
@Unefilletrescurieuse Well I wasn't saying they aren't needed at times. They certainly are, IF they are genuine and not just words.
I was thinking more of a specific situation as the question alluded to.
I was thinking more of a specific situation as the question alluded to.
@Magenta Specific or not… my comment is the same. And I too, was speaking of the original post and comments. And remember, this is my opinion! Also remember, I’m thinking of it from the Christian standpoint. I never meant for my comment to be offensive. Nor did I ever mean that people have to go back for more of the bad behavior once an apology is offered. All in all it was my answer/comment not a condemnation to anyone. ✌
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@Unefilletrescurieuse @Magenta I give out apologies any time I recognize that I have been unkind or hurtful. And they are genuine apologies. In my personal opinion, if we get to the point we can excuse our own behavior, with no regard to the pain we cause others, we have failed as a human. For me, that stems from the fact, none of us are perfect. We get tired, careless, sloppy, upset, frustrated, yada-yada, and we mess up. Those aren't excuses, just facts. By the same token, most of the time, I can offer grace to those who act out of character and hurt me. I don't need an apology. But for those who make a habit of it, or who are intentional in their nasty cruel behavior...right or wrong...my grace is in short supply.
Miram · 31-35, F
Just wondering who voted this down? The thumb down.
Which one of you sore losers felt called out?

@Miram Laughs. Thanks for letting me know. I hadn't noticed the downvote but that's what the button is there for. Anyway, I can see who it was. Turns out it was no one I've ever had contact with so I guess they found my question offensive.

I absolutely do, but I’m not holding my breath to get one.
Don’t know what they’re doing.
I’ve never thought for a minute it was me. I know better. And not in a million years would I let that bad behavior be projected onto me.

@Unefilletrescurieuse Sometimes the apologies we need the most, never come and we're left dealing with the emotional fall out. It always good to analyze the situation - it never hurts to do an internal check to make sure we are correct in our thinking. Sometimes there's just no mistaking we were NOT in the wrong.
@LadyBronte No, it never hurts but in my specific cases I’m talking about, it’s just not necessary. The guilty people know who they are and know they were at fault. So yeah, “ sometimes there’s just no mistaking we were not wrong”. And in my cases that I speak of… I know clearly and so do the offending parties. Now if I’m in doubt, and sometimes that’s the case, I have no problem whatsoever telling such people I meant no offense whatsoever and IF they were indeed offended , I apologize. I do it for a good conscience whether actual guilt lies at my door or not. Sometimes people just assume things and hurt themselves. Or don’t quite understand what I was saying. Sometimes the comprehension just isn’t there, or perhaps I just don’t know how to convey thoughts. That being said tho, it’s usually the same people being offended over and over. Then there comes a time I just didn’t care to be around or even engage in a conversation.
Ann99 · 41-45, F
So far nothing like that has happened to me that would make me feel someone owes me an apology because I usually don’t give people the chance to treat me that way
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@Ann99 That's good then.
GoFish ·
no i don't think that way. if i think they are out of line i'll tell them to their face if i'm on speaking terms with them otherwise F em and forget em.. i don't sulk bitterly like that it's an unhealthy toxic vibe
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@GoFish To each their own.

@LadyBronte ay
Apologies or not ...they don't mean anything without changed behavior
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@Chern0bylplaygr0unds That I agree with 100%.
DareToSayIT · M
Yes, there are a few who do, but I don’t dwell on it. Apologies mean nothing if the behaviour never changes. When you see someone repeating the exact same patterns they did a decade ago, their apology is just smoke and mirrors.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@DareToSayIT Yes, a lot of apologies are smoke and mirrors - simple illusion. The behavior never changes.
I don't know. Likely not. I see that and realize people don't usually reflect enough to realize they could apologize and repair things.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@EldritchFox I agree! Most of us arwnt likely to get the apologies we deserve for whatever reason. Sadly really when some things could be repaired.
No
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
A damn list of people, but I've moved past it. Apologies really do nothing for me.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@uncalled4 Might as well move past it. Probably never going to happen anyway.
